First off, don’t try and install one of these without professional help. It’s very doable but we’re talking about putting a 600 lbs basketball system on a wall. I’ve had people ask me if this can be installed with only lag screws. My initial thought is to say, “If you want it to fall on someone’s head.” However, I cannot say that so I usually choose a more tactful way to tell them this is a very serious system and requires a very serious installation.
The First Team selection of wall-mounted basketball systems are a very extensive and excellent set of systems as they give you a very professional option without having to go the way of having retractable systems hanging from the rafters. The retractable systems are excellent but they also cost well into the tens of thousands of dollars whereas one of these systems will only set you back roughly $2,000.
The First Team SuperMount 80 systems are an excellent option for any church, school or corporate setting because it gives the user 8′-12′ of overhang. The beauty with this is it gives you plenty of room to install a regulation baseline and paint the basketball court properly.
The SuperMount 80 is an extremely durable system. There’s nothing about any part of the system that isn’t construction-grade steel, which, needless to say, is very important. I’ve personally installed several of these and I’m very impressed with the quality of the product. I can also speak to the construction-grade steel question because there’s no piece on this system which can be installed without the use of a scissor lift. It’s just way too heavy.
If you have any questions about this or any other wall mounted basketball system feel free to give me a call at 862.579.2291. I’d be happy to help you.
